Description

  • Ultra refined amino acid complex
  • Precise doses of essential protein fractions
  • Provides amino acids essential for muscle building

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein in the body. Amino acids are essential for the synthesis of structural proteins like muscle tissue, organs, skin and hair, enzymes, some hormones, and neurotransmitters. Amino acids are also involved in numerous metabolic pathways that affect exercise metabolism.

Amino acids are the only nutrients that contain the essential nitrogen element. Carbohydrate and fats do not contain nitrogen. Nitrogen is an essential element for maintaining and increasing lean muscle mass. In order for an anabolic (building) state to occur intra-muscular nitrogen balance must be positive. At times when nitrogen levels may be low i.e. post exercise, the body is in a catabolic (degenerative) state. When nitrogen levels are elevated the body can achieve an anabolic state. The need for amino acids in the diet is critical to lean muscle development. Too little dietary protein will hinder muscular development and may contribute to other health complications.

A considerable amount of research has evaluated dietary protein needs of athletes. Most studies indicate that in order to maintain protein balance during intense resistance and/or endurance training, athletes should ingest approximately 1.3 to 1.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body mass per day. The protein/amino acid requirement for athletes training at high-altitude may be as much as 2.2 grams protein per kilogram per day in order to maintain protein balance. This protein intake is about 1.5 to 2 times the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for the normal adult. Athletes who do not ingest enough quality protein in their diet, and/or train at high altitudes may be susceptible to protein malnutrition. Low protein ingestion can create a situation of slow tissue growth and/or recovery from training.
