Keep an Eye on Quality as Protein Prices set to Rise

POSTED BY: The Insider    DATE: 18 May 2007

Yes its true, the price of your whey protein is going to go up again. Before you start blaming the manufacturers for scamming you out of your hard earned cash, read on.

The impact is being seen across all dairy products, even the milk for your Kellogg’s will be seeing a price hike as well. Surprisingly you have to lay the blame on the rising fuel costs and the growing demand for milk proteins worldwide. Top that with the prices of corn and soybeans increasing (ugh! Slow down that’s what is used in dairy cow feed) and you have the perfect storm of price increases.

So why is this important to you, two reasons, one as I said you will start to see increases in the protein products you buy over the next few months. Secondly, because the cost of protein is going up, some unscrupulous companies will start to add little sprinkles of inferior proteins in their mix to keep the margins healthy and their selling prices as low as before.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein EAS 100% Myopro WheyCytoSport Muscle Milk

Did you know? If you compare all the Whey Proteins per 100g you can compare protein content without the influence of different serving sizes. In our range Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey came up tops!

My suggestion to you it may be worth paying the extra few pounds on the increase and certainly sticking with the companies you have come to love and trust including the likes of Optimum Nutrition, EAS and Muscle Milk among my personal favourites. As it goes up it will also go down in the future, so be sure I will be telling you when so you can ask for your discount with a smile and the facts in hand.
