The campaign to stop the EU's new rules on supplements dosage is asking people to take action.
Consumers for Health Choice (CHC) is asking people who take supplements to visit its website consumersforhealthchoice.com to get information on how they can help. Amongst the information on the site are draft letters and guidance on the new laws.
The action follows the decision from Europe to decrease supplement dosages. CHC Chair Mike Peet says: "Some Member State Governments and lobbying organisations are pushing for restrictive, low levels to be set which would put a stop to the continued availability of higher potency supplements across Europe.
However, it is still possible for the legal limits to be set at useful levels, based upon safety, which would allow consumers in all Member States to have access to safe and beneficial higher potency supplements of their choice. The officials leading on this project have always said that this is a consumer issue and that the interests of consumers should be paramount."
He goes on to say that consumers can help to stop the action from Europe. " All our supporters, supplement users and those who care about consumer choice have this final opportunity to make their voices heard. It is essential we balance the lobbying from those who want to ban higher potency dietary supplements. You can make this happen by simply writing two short letters – one to the European Commission and another to the officials in your own country."
